Obsessive obsequiousness: Re Obama's propensity for bowing to regals, Ezra Levant posts a funny cartoon and quips, "He probably would have bowed to Mackenzie "King."

William Lyon Mackenzie King, for those who are not Canucki and/or don't know, was Canada's P.M. during WW2. One of our more, ahem, eccentric leaders, he was a confirmed bachelor who, in his down time, shunned company, preferring to gab with his dog and his dead mother: among his other tics, he claimed to "see things" in his shaving foam--things like portents of the future rather than lather, I mean. Obama may well have been inclined to bow to WLMK not only because of his regal moniker, but because though a white guy, he was so freaking "diverse".

Some other royals, past and present, who might merit an Obama bow: Old "King" Cole; Nat "King" Cole; Larry "King"; Alan "King"; Billie Jean "King"; Rodney "King"; "King" Vidor; and--a rink-load of bows here--NHL team the Los Angeles "Kings".

And let's not forget Sid "Caesar" and "Caesar" Romero.

Update: Oops! Please forgive me "Queen" Latifah, Butterfly Mc"Queen" and Babe Ruth, the "Sultan" of Swat.

I bowed to Steve Mc'Queen' for years. But Japan's Hirohito successor? Or Saudi Arabia's al Qeada funder?

It's all about humility and submission. What a leader child,

Don't forget, he bowed to Rev. Jeremiah Wright, too. Obviously, not having a father played havoc with his emotional developement and played out in his search for father figures, naked need for approval and desire to "humble" himself to older men.

Forgot to mention--loved Steve McQueen. During my formative years, I would have willingly submitted to him anytime.

Let's not forget Caesar and Cleo (later known by their real names, Sonny & Cher):
